Envision names new CEO

Nashville, Tenn.-based Envision Healthcare named Jason Owen president and CEO.

Mr. Owen previously served as president and CEO of BlueSpring, which provides applied behavioral analysis therapy for children.

"We welcome Jason as Envision's president and CEO, and are confident in his strategic vision to lead Envision through the organization's next phase," said Steve Nelson, chair of the board of directors for Envision, in a news release. "He is a tenured healthcare leader who is passionate about improving healthcare quality, especially for fragile patient populations."

Mr. Owen took on the reins from Henry Howe, who served as interim CEO and CFO, April 15. Mr. Howe will continue on as CFO and Mr. Owen has joined the company's board of directors.

This is a particularly important time for Envision shortly after emerging from bankruptcy. The physician staffing firm filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May 2023 and entered into a restructuring agreement with stakeholders who supported more than 60% of the company's $7.7 billion in debt obligations.

Envision then split its physician services business from AmSurg, its ambulatory surgery centers business. AmSurg acquired the company's ASCs for $300 million and a waiver of intercompany loans. Envision reorganized and emerged from bankruptcy in October.

"Jason has extensive experience leading healthcare organizations and driving transformation," said Mr. Nelson. "His leadership approach, which is rooted in supporting the patient-clinician relationship and empowering teams to thrive, is an ideal fit for Envision."

Mr. Owen also has experience as president of operations for Aveanna Healthcare, overseeing daily operations and acquisition integration, and he spent time in leadership positions for Kindred at Home and Hanger Orthopedic Group.
