Here are 31 heart centers opening, upgrading or expanding this year:
- AdventHealth Medical Group is set to open a cardiology practice in Dalton, Ga.
- Englewood (N.J.) Health and New York City-based ColumbiaDoctors are collaborating to provide consultations to advanced heart failure patients hospitalized at Englewood Hospital.
- Evanston, Ill.-based Endeavor Health is discontinuing open-heart surgeries at two hospitals as it plans to open a cardiovascular institute at another of its hospitals in May. Once open, all heart surgeries will take place at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview, Ill.
- Columbus-based OhioHealth Physician Group, in partnership with OhioHealth Marion General Hospital, invested $8.7 million to renovate and relocate two clinics, one for heart and vascular and the other for primary care.
- Atlanta-based Emory University Hospital completed its $87.7 million heart and vascular expansion.
- St. David’s Georgetown (Texas) Hospital will open a new cardiac catheterization lab and outpatient cardiovascular imaging center in October.
- Oklahoma City-based Oklahoma Children's Hospital is the first in the state to open a pediatric heart transplant program.
- Baltimore’s MedStar Union Memorial Hospital opened its integrated heart services center.
- New York City-based Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons launched its $50 million pediatric cardiovascular innovation center.
- Findley, Ohio-based Blanchard Valley Health System is cutting its open-heart surgery program and will instead transfer patients to other systems as needed.
- Tampa General Hospital opened its new Heart and Vascular Institute in Sun City Center.
- Neptune City, N.J.-based Hackensack Meridian Health Jersey Shore University Medical Center is investing $45 million to expand its cardiovascular suite.
- Upland, Pa.-based Crozer Health has partnered with Nemours Children's Health, Delaware Valley, to expand pediatric cardiology services in the region.
- York, Pa.-based WellSpan Health is expanding vascular surgery services in four cities by adding four vascular surgeons and three satellite offices.
- Johnstown, Pa.-based Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center completed its Cardiovascular and Surgical Care Pavilion.
- Holy Cross Health in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., opened a third cardiac catheterization laboratory.
- Children's Hospital Los Angeles opened its new fetal cardiac clinic.
- Watertown, N.Y.-based Samaritan Medical added cardiology services through the acquisition of Cardiology Associates of Northern New York, now known as Samaritan Cardiology.
- Marlton, N.J.-based Virtua Health established an advanced heart failure center in Camden.
- Fountain Valley, Calif.-based MemorialCare launched its Women's Heart Center at the MemorialCare Heart & Vascular Institute.
- Utica-based Central New York Cardiology opened a new, expanded office building with high-tech equipment and the only cardiac PET scan machine in the region.
- Ronnie Garcia, MD, reopened his cardiology practice, Baptist Medical Network-Cardiology-Seguin (Texas), formerly Mission Cardiovascular Consultants, in a new, larger location.
- First Coast Cardiovascular Institute partnered with CardioHealth, a Jacksonville, Fla.-based practice specializing in hypertension, congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation and valvular heart disease.
