Sanford Health to expand telemedicine program for chemotherapy infusions

Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Sanford Health plans to expand its Sanford Virtual Infusion Project, a program that provides remote chemotherapy infusion oversight, according to The Daily Globe.

The telemedicine program will go live at Armour, S.D.-based Douglas County Memorial Hospital, Sanford Vermillion (S.D.) Medical Center and Sanford Worthington (Minn.) Medical Center. Through the program, trained nurses will be able to provide rural oncology patients with chemotherapy infusions under virtual oversight from an appropriate oncology provider, The Daily Globe reports.

The virtual oncology provider will also be available to address patient concerns related to laboratory results or treatment plans via telephone or telemedicine services.
