AHA to House: Expand telehealth access for MA enrollees

The American Hospital Association asked lawmakers to reimburse telehealth services under Medicare Advantage plans in a statement presented to the House Committee on Ways and Means June 7.

Telehealth has the potential to improve patient satisfaction and quality of care while reducing costs for the healthcare system, the AHA said in its statement. The AHA highlighted how telehealth can improve patients' access to timely care, should lawmakers remove certain barriers and restrictions.

"Congress should pursue all avenues to expand access to services via telehealth, including removing barriers caused by the geographic location and practice setting 'originating site' requirements and restrictions on covered services and technologies," the statement reads.
