Number of counties at risk of having no ACA exchange insurer drops to 1

One county in Ohio is lacking an insurer selling coverage on the ACA exchanges for 2018, down from CMS' June prediction of 49 counties, according to a Kaiser Family Foundation report.

There are 334 marketplace enrollees in Ohio's Paulding County that may have to find new coverage next year, the analysis found. In June, Cincinnati-based Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Ohio said it will no longer sell individual coverage on the state's ACA exchange by 2018, leaving residents in at least 18 counties without an exchange option. However, multiple insurers stepped up to fill all but Paulding County.

Kaiser notes, "Insurer participation in 2018 will not be finalized until the fall of 2017."
