Two of the health insurance industry's biggest names — Aetna CEO Mark Bertolini and Anthem CEO Joseph Swedish — condemned the white supremacist protest in Charlottesville, Va., and President Donald Trump's following rhetoric Wednesday.

1. In an internal memo obtained by CNBC, Mr. Bertolini wrote, "I am pleased that many other political leaders from both parties have expressed similarly strong statements — and I am ashamed of our president's behavior and comments."
2. Mr. Bertolini's memo surfaced after President Trump disbanded two councils of top executive advisors and again blamed the violence in Charlottesville on "both sides."
3. Mr. Swedish echoed other business leaders Wednesday, issuing a statement condemning "the bigotry, hatred and racism on display in [Charlottesville] last weekend. The violence and radical ideology at the center of the protests were no less than an assault on human dignity and our societal foundation."
