2k North Carolina physicians team up with Aetna

Raleigh, N.C.-based Community Care Physician Network and Hartford, Conn.-based Aetna collaborated for rural healthcare initiatives in North Carolina for Medicare Advantage policyholders.

CCPN — comprised of 2,000 independent physicians across 615 practices — and Aetna will begin their value-based delivery model collaboration in January. Many of Aetna's value-based care models tie physician reimbursement to health outcomes.

L. Allen Dobson, Jr., MD, CEO of Community Care of North Carolina, said, "Both Aetna and CCNC believe that a national insurance carrier and a local primary care network working together can improve quality, make the healthcare experience easier, make care more efficient and reduce healthcare costs."
