From a nonprofit group suing Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems to the owner of a home health agency sentenced to 17 years in prison, here are the latest lawsuits and settlements making headlines.

1. Lawsuit claims CHS failed to provide up to $110M in charity care
A nonprofit group filed a lawsuit Monday against Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems, alleging the for-profit hospital operator failed to provide sufficient charity care at two of its Washington hospitals.

Lynn Hlatky, PhD, won a preliminary victory over Boston-based Steward Health Care in Suffolk Superior Court, where she is seeking $35 million in damages for the destruction of her cancer research lab in 2014.

7. Owner of Dallas home health agency sentenced to 17 years in prison
Wilbert James Veasey Jr., owner of Dallas-based home health firm Apple of Your Eye Healthcare Services, was sentenced to 17 years in prison and ordered to pay over $23 million in restitution penalties for his role in a long-running Medicare and Medicaid fraud scheme.
