Southwest Airlines employee personally tracks down, returns luggage containing medication for cancer patient

A Southwest Airlines employee took it upon herself to personally locate and return a passenger's luggage after discovering it contained medication meant to help minimize the side effects of the passenger's chemotherapy treatment, ABC News reports.

Stacy Hurt said she contacted the airline's customer service after landing at Pittsburgh International Airport July 23. She told the representative her luggage had failed to arrive on a flight from Nashville, Tenn., and that it contained medication meant to help curb the effects of her chemotherapy treatment for her colon cancer.

Sarah Rowan, who answered Ms. Hurt's phone call, said she was moved to help the woman, in part, because her father died of leukemia six years ago, the report states. Ms. Rowan said she tracked down the luggage just after midnight and personally drove it to Ms. Hurt's home at 3 a.m. July 24. She reportedly left it on Ms. Hurt's doorstep with a note telling her to "kick that cancer's butt," ABC News reports.

The two woman met in-person for the first time Aug. 9. During the meeting, Ms. Hurt handed Ms. Rowan a bouquet of flowers.
