NewYork-Presbyterian, Perelman Heart Institute launch CPR campaign

New York City-based NewYork-Presbyterian and NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center Ronald O. Perelman Heart Institute, also in New York City, launched a campaign to reduce the number of cardiac arrest-related deaths in the state.

The campaign, #HandsOnlyCPR, aims to teach New York residents the basic principles of CPR — check, call, compress — so that "everyone can save a life." Officials instituted the campaign June 1 as part of National CPR Awareness Week.

Cardiac arrest kills one person every two minutes. An individual's survival rate decreases 10 percent for every minute CPR isn't used.
