Doctors Hospital at Renaissance, University of Houston open satellite pharmacy program

Edinburg, Texas-based Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Health System and the University of Houston partnered to establish DHR as a satellite campus for the University of Houston College of Pharmacy Rio Grande Valley program, according to KRGV-5 News.

Under the program, students pursuing a certificate in Professional Pharmacy Hispanic Healthcare will have the opportunity to conduct a rotation at DHR. The students will be trained in a team-based approach alongside pharmacy students and students pursuing a career in other healthcare professions.

The financial terms of the partnership, if any, were not disclosed.

"The role of clinical pharmacists and pharmacy technicians continues to grow here at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance … [we are] committed to putting drug experts at the patient bedside," said Gavino Garza, director of pharmacy at DHR. "Fostering a new partnership with University of Houston College of Pharmacy further reinforces the commitment DHR Health System has to our patients, community and to education."
