Poll: ACA increasing in favorability among Democrats, Independents and Republicans

Views of the ACA continue to improve across constituents from all political parties, with 52 percent of the public viewing the law favorably, according to the latest poll from Kaiser Family Foundation.

Though the majority of Republicans (68 percent) and supporters of President Donald Trump (67 percent) are disappointed Congress has been unable to the repeal the ACA, most also support efforts to make the healthcare law work until a replacement can be passed. Fifty-two percent of Republicans said they want President Trump to make the ACA work.

All parties combined, the majority of Americans (78 percent) want the Trump administration to help the law along. In particular, respondents indicated they disagreed with stopping outreach for ACA signups (80 percent) and with dropping enforcement of the individual mandate (65 percent).

From here, the majority of respondents (57 percent) say both parties should make bipartisan improvements to the ACA, according to KFF. About a fifth of respondents (21 percent) say Republicans should continue their work on a bill, while a similarly sized portion (21 percent) said they are ready to move on from healthcare.
