Dayton (Ohio) Children's Hospital recently held a topping-off ceremony for its $110 million behavioral health building at the hospital's main campus.

Philadelphia-based Penn Medicine is planning to build a nearly $300 million cancer center at Princeton Medical Center. The effort aims to differentiate the hospital in Plainsboro, N.J., as a leader in advanced medicine amid increased competition from other institutions in the region, executives said during a Feb. 29 board meeting when the plans were approved, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer. 

Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic is on track to open a $198 million hospital at its La Crosse, Wis., campus this fall, WEAU reported Feb. 28.

Sanford-based HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital, part of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare, is unveiling its new $15 million HCA Florida Casselberry (Fla.) Emergency freestanding emergency room.

Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente has proposed a project that would demolish its existing San Jose (Calif.) Medical Center and construct a new hospital.

Baptist Behavioral Health, part of Beaumont, Texas-based Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, has received $70 million in improvement funding from the 88th Texas Legislature. 

The Detroit City Council has greenlit a $3 billion development deal that would see Henry Ford Health, Michigan State University and the Detroit Pistons transform the city's New Center district, The Detroit News reported Feb. 27.

Newark, Del.-based ChristianaCare and Emerus Holdings, a micro-hospital developer, have added two new neighborhood hospital developments to their expanding portfolio as they continue work on a third neighborhood hospital at ChristianaCare's West Grove, Pa., campus. 

Kissimmee-based HCA Florida Osceola Hospital, part of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare, has opened HCA Florida Osceola East Emergency, its $15.5 million freestanding emergency room, in St. Cloud (Fla.).

Smithfield, N.C.-based UNC Health Johnston has filed two certificate-of-need applications through the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services that would cost more than $100 million and add 24 beds to its Clayton and Smithfield campuses.

Most health systems are gearing up to either renovate existing facilities or construct new ones, with the bulk of these plans set to take effect within the coming year.

Orlando (Fla.) Health has broken ground on its $160 million Orlando Health Children's Pavilion after sharing initial plans for the project last September. 

Gainesville, Fla.-based UF Health, part of Gainesville, Fla.-based University of Florida, broke ground at UF Health's Durbin Park campus in St. Johns, Fla., as part of a $1 billion regional expansion project to advance care in Jacksonville and St. Johns County in Florida.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul's 30-day budget amendments have allotted up to $300 million for a capital investment as part of the transformation plan for University Hospital at Downstate, part of SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, along with an additional $100 million to cover its deficit in the first year of the transition. 

San Antonio-based University Health broke ground on a $450 million community hospital Feb. 21, marking its second new hospital project since the start of 2024. 

Wausau, Wis.-based Aspirus Health is investing $30 million into Laurium, Mich.-based Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital as part of a renovation and expansion project.

Corewell Health Helen DeVos Children's Hospital has received $40 million from the DeVos Family Foundation — a gift that will support an expansion of the hospital's pediatric ICU and advance care at its new inpatient psychiatric unit. 

Johnstown, Pa.-based Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, part of Brentwood, Tenn.-based Duke LifePoint Healthcare and Johnstown, Pa.-based Conemaugh Health System, has opened its new $77 million Cardiovascular and Surgical Care Pavilion. 

Henry Ford Jackson (Mich.) Hospital has received a $5 million endowment to develop a workforce development scholarship fund, marking the hospital's largest endowment to date. 

The Robert F. Wolfe and Edgar T. Wolfe Foundation has donated $50 million to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center's new hospital tower, which is expected to open in 2026.
